Volunteerism is the concept that made the creation of Ngerengere River Eco Camp
possible. Due to alack of financial means, all projects rely on motivated people eager
to contribute ideas, skills and hard work. Most of these volunteers are local friends that,
regardless of their own difficulties, were willing
to spare time for a good cause.
Cultural exchange is also paramount in our
philosophy. This phenomenon enables exchange
of ideas, new global social networks and new
horizons for both parties.
Volunteers can join all our projects such as
assisting in teaching and cooking at our
Happy Bricks Primary School, planting
trees, joining new construction sites at our
Camp or supporting us in water and healthcare
projects. Please contact us to find out
which activities will be needed at the time you
want to come.
Volunteers can get a deep insight into Tanzanian rural lifestyles with all the typical food,
cultural traditions and contact to villagers and the natural environment.
Several university students used the opportunity as well and gained experiences and
knowledge during their internships in our Organization.
Project initiators are also important for us! Project
proposals need to be related to either education,
environmental sustainability or income-generating
activities. Funds to initiate the project need to be
raised by the volunteer.
You will be accommodated near the village Lukwambe at Eco camp where you will stay
with our local team and maybe with other guests or volunteers from all over the world. You
can stay in an Eco Camp house alone, as a couple or in groups up to ten people.
Each house has its private bathroom with a typical Tanzanian shower.
Eco Camp is the center of our non-profit organization. Upon request, we also arrange
workshops here, such as the manufacture of drums, local sandals and Masai jewels. We also
offer basic and intensive Kiswahili language courses.
Enjoy our 100% organic and freshly cooked
food! You will get three typical Tanzanian
meals per day. Our food is also suitable
for vegetarian or vegan guests. We use
fresh fruits and vegetables from our own
garden whenever possible.
If you want to learn some Tanzanian cooking, you can join our kitchen team.
Volunteers pay a basic fee for food and accomodation and additional costs depending on
extras such as airport pickups, workshops and trips. Since these fees depend also on the
duration of your stay and the number of guests, you are welcome to make a price inquiry.
We will happily get back to you with an offer tailored to your needs.
Phones can be charged and lights can be used even at night, thanks to our solar powered
electricity. We also have internet access. Even though it is not very stable, receiving and
sending emails is possible.
We also offer airport pickups. An Eco Camp staff member can pick you up directly at the
airport and you can both take public transport or drive in a private car, depending on your
preference and financial situation.
All details for your internship or volunteering
experience can be worked out together with us.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any
questions. We welcome you very much to our
Ngerengere River Eco Camp!
