ECOTOURISM IN OUR CAMP

Are you looking for an adventure on your travels?

Are you interested in sustainable travel that protects the environment, far away from

cliché touristic experiences?

In that case Ngerengere River Eco Camp is the perfect

place for you! Bungalows, baboons, beautiful landscapes,

gardening, visiting local people, trips to surrounding

national parks, Tanzanian food, and much more.

We invite single travelers, couples, families and even

groups up to 30 people.

LOCATION

Eco Camp is located in Lukwambe – a small village between Dar Es Salaam and Morogoro.

Surrounded by Tanzanian bush and situated at the picturesque Ngerengere River, Eco Camp

is the perfect destination for all age groups dreaming of discovering Tanzanian life

(75% ofTanzanians live in rural areas). Eco Camp is a great place for visitors to relax in a

very quiet and 100% natural environment.

ACCOMODATION

Our camp is unique: all houses are built entirely of natural materials. Each house can

accommodate up to three guests in comfortable single or double beds - of course

including mosquito nets. Each house also has a private bathroom and bottled drinking

water. For camping lovers, we have plenty of space for tents. Apart from the houses, we

have a dining hall, a kitchen and a great fire camp area.

FOOD

Enjoy our 100% organic and freshly cooked food! You will get three

typical Tanzanian meals per day. Our food is also suitable for

vegetarian guests. We use fresh fruits and vegetables from our own

garden whenever possible. Additionally, barbecue at the campfire

is available.

ACTIVITIES

Firstly, you have the chance to explore the natural environment with baboons, galagos,

beautiful birds, chameleons and other animals. Refresh your mind while sitting on the

stones of Ngerengere River.

Secondly, we offer a unique cultural tourism

experience. Through our extensive social network in

the area we can provide guests with the chance to

learn and experience much about the culture of

Lukwambe´s people. You can get to know the

different lifestyles of the villagers through direct

meetings and exchanges. Many of our guests find it

also very interesting to visit a Masai family nearby.

Thirdly, tourists have the chance to get to know our social projects in Lukwambe. In

cooperation with the villagers, we improve conditions in Lukwambe through different

projects regarding education, health care, water quality and reforestation.

Fourthly, while you stay at Eco Camp you will have the

opportunity to visit many fantastic places nearby.

Our Eco Camp is close to the highway to Mikumi

National Park which is located in the north of Selous -

Africa´s biggest Game Reserve today! We can

organize daytrips or overnights for you to Mikumi at a

reasonable price. We recommend this National Park because a big variety of  animals live

there such as zebras, impala, giraffes, wildebeest,

lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, antelopes, monkeys

and crocodiles. But Mikumi is still not as crowded with

tourists cars as many National Parks in the Northern

Zone.

For hiking fans we organize trips to the Uluguru

Mountains in Morogoro. The Uluguru Mountains are

2,600 meters high and the vegetation is very variable,

ranging from dry lowland to different kinds of forests and beautiful water falls! We can

organize a daytrip or if you aim to reach the top of the Moutains, it is also possible to do

some camping in the Mountains.

SERVICES

Phones can be charged and lights can be used thanks to our solar power. We also have

internet access! Even though it is not very stable, receiving and sending emails is

possible.

We offer airport pickups as well. An Eco Camp staff member will

pick you up directly at the airport and you can both take public

transport or drive in a private car, depending on your preference.

All details for your stay can be worked out together with us. We

are very flexible and respond to your ideas, situation and wishes.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

We welcome you very much to our Ngerengere River Eco Camp!
